Don’t know if you have a concussion? Schedule an appointment for concussion clarity
You hit your head, or your child hit their head, and you are unsure if it is a concussion. Statistics show 50% of concussions go unreported. We are here to change that statistic - and provide proper treatment when you do have a concussion. We use state-of-the-art diagnostics and have a physician on-staff to review your results. We are your go-to-stop for concussion diagnostics and treatment.
Concussion diagnostics
We use both RightEye and BrainScope to get a picture of the injury sustained. RightEye aids in the diagnosis of neuro-optic dysfunction (eye-brain communication, or lack of communication for many post-concussion patients). This dysfunction is common in concussions and can continue to get worse days or even weeks after injury. The RightEye test takes 5 minutes total and it a non-invasive test completed by the patient by tracking a dot on the screen, performing saccades, fixations, and then a reaction time task. Results are immediate and will be reviewed by our physician on staff.
BrainScope helps us aid in the diagnosis of a concussion and is FDA cleared to do so. It is state-of-the-art technology, and we are the only clinics locally (in both Northbrook, IL and Fargo, ND) that have exclusivity to use this device. Pairing EEG data and symptom evaluation, this test takes a total of 20 minutes to complete. Results are immediate and will be reviewed by our physician on staff.
Concussion treatment
We have used the Denham Concussion Protocol to treat more than 1,000 concussions with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The treatments are an hour in duration, and you get to lay and watch tv for the entire time. Depending on how soon after your concussion you can get in for treatment will determine the protocols we use, and the number of treatments recommended. For acute concussions (injuries sustained within the last 10 days), we see patients get better in an average of two days, with two treatments completed per day. All new patients meet with our physician on staff to determine a treatment plan before beginning treatments.
The benefits of hyperbaric oxygen for a concussion:
Allows damaged tissue to repair
Reduces swelling
Turns off inflammation
